Learn Pottery In Delhi: My birthday celebrations

Hello Everyone,

Hope you all are doing well. Today I will talk about my one-day pottery experience in Delhi. So this year on my birthday I wanted to spend some time with myself. Pottery is something which has always fascinated me, so I decided to go for a one-day pottery workshop. In this post, I will tell you about my pottery experience in detail.

Where I went: Smug Mug

Address: D-78, Near Noida Stadium, Sector 21, Noida

Smug Mug Pottery Studio

Who runs it: Ms Meena Vohra, a two-time AIFACS awardee. A woman who started her journey as a studio potter at the age of 50. She has had many solo and group exhibitions all across India. She even customizes pieces for decorating house and gift purposes.

That’s Meena Vohra Ma’am and me at her place.

Nearest Metro Station: Noida Sector 16 (You have to take an auto or a cab from here).

Phone number: +919899672403

Payment mode: You have to pay money in advance via Paytm.

A quick tip: Book the day in advance, especially if you are planning to go there on weekends. She is usually pre-occupied with her schedule.

My Experience: Her studio is on the rooftop of her house. I was a little sceptical because I was all alone that day. Her husband opened the door for me, and he welcomed me with a big smile. As soon as I entered the house I was sure that I am at the right place. Her house is so beautifully decorated that every corner of her house was photogenic. I was looking at her beautiful house when I saw her coming towards me with her arms open and a smile so warm and welcoming that I instantly felt comfortable. She wished me with a warm hug and then we went to her studio.

She has decorated her house with beautiful pieces created by her.

Her studio is all about art. It gives you the vibe of creativity and positivity. She told me a little bit about pottery and then we started with it. What I loved the most about pottery was that throughout the process I didn’t know what the end result will be like. I think pottery is not only meditative but it also teaches you a lot. It was so tranquil that I didn’t want my session to end.

Ms Meena Vohra is a perfect teacher one could ask for, she is vivacious, loving and it was fun to be around such an intelligent yet a down to earth human being. Her aura is so positive that I was smiling throughout the session.

Overall I would say that this experience motivated me so much not only just to learn pottery but to follow my passion (just like Meena ma’am did), to be more creative in life and, to find out time for myself. And I won’t be lying if I say that this birthday will always have a special place in my heart.

Recommendations: Smug Mug not only organizes pottery workshop for one or two people, but also for big groups. You can go there with your family or for fun official workshops. Her studio is so beautiful that a couple had their pre-wedding shoot there. And I think it is a pretty cool idea.

    1. Hi Shifali, I can’t remember the exact charges, but it was something around 1000-1500 for one person. If you decide to go there, I hope you will enjoy her company as much as I did. Best wishes.❤️❤️
