Plot: Chakmak Kavita Cards come in 4 sets with 12 poem cards in each set. I bought the set 1, and I am going to review the same in this post.
Eklavya is a non-profit, non-government organization which is working in the field of innovative educational programs. In this process of providing education in a holistic and innovative way, they have created many resources, for example- books, magazines, and teaching-learning materials. These Chakmak Kavita cards are part of their resources.
As mentioned above, each set contains 12 poem cards. All the poems are in Hindi, written by several authors and are beautifully illustrated by different artists. These cards are perfect to grab the attention of kids as they are very radiant. The illustrations are beautiful and amusing.
But the USP of these cards is the poems. All the poems are in simple language, easy to understand for children, hilarious and most importantly are appropriate for children to read. I think this 1st set is perfect for children of age 6-10 years.
My Views: What caught my attention to these cards? I would say the vibrant illustrations. These cards are so colourfully illustrated that I just wanted to grab them for myself.
In fact, when I read the poems, I was smiling throughout. The poems are fun to read, and I think that is what we need. We need to make reading fun for kids, and these cards do that effectively.
As they are in form of cards and not big books, which might dread some children, it can be a good resource for children who have a short attention span and are not willing to grab a book to read.
In a way, I can say that these cards are satisfactory for beginner kids, in whom we want to inculcate the habit of reading for fun.
Overall I think these can be a competent investment in a classroom or can prove as a thoughtful gift for the kids in the family.
Recommendations: If you are a primary teacher, then these cards can be an appropriate resource for your classroom.
