What’s inside?
In the midst of this chaotic city, there situated a garden where you will feel cold breeze kissing your face. In summers it brings relief while in winters it makes body shudder.
The garden is famous among those who love to start their mornings with Yoga, walk or meditation in the fresh air, but no this is not what the garden is all about. It’s historical, it’s huge, it’s Lodhi Garden of New Delhi.
The old Lady Willington Park, now known as Lodhi Garden, is dotted with monuments of Sayyid and Lodhi Periods, which include tombs mosques, and bridges. Spanning over 90 acres. The beautiful garden draped in emerald grass contains, Mohammed Shah’s Tomb, Tomb of Sikandar Lodi, Shisha Gumbad and Bara Gumbad, architectural works of the 15th century by Lodhi, an Afghan dynasty that ruled major portions of northern India and Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of modern-day Pakistan, from 14 to 15 century. The site is now protected by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
A walk in this historical park with your loved ones, perfect picnic spot in winters, where the sun will give you peck where the cold breeze will flick you. They say it is famous for bird watching, but we didn’t see any. However, even if we would have seen any we could not have recognized it. Except, there were many beautiful ducks in the pond, Oh! Wait there were some more birds, the love birds, sitting with arms in arms, spending some quality time together, watching the sunset, looking at the shadow of setting the sun, falling into the pond, with the ducks quacking around. Doesn’t it sound romantic? Believe us the view was even more heavenly and tranquilizing.
The park is also famous for Pre-wedding shoots, the couples in beautiful attires looking for the perfect spot for that perfect click. This may give hint to the photographers on where to head for their next photo shoot.
The tombs, the pond, beautiful sunset, and sunrise what else do we need to have our peaceful time?
This garden is a must visit place for every Delhite.
Recommendations: Photography, meditation, picnic with family, yoga, a walk, hang out with friends, or some quiet time with yourself this garden offers everything you want to have. The garden is definitely worth a visit.
